Spatial Publication

Mr. Steve Zerafa contributed by writing a chapter in a series of books related to spatial analysis, with a chapter called Spatial Algorithms for Land scape change detection. Land spatial analysis refers to the process of using geographic information and statistical methods to analyze and understand the spatial distribution and relationships of various features and phenomena on the earth’s surface. It is an interdisciplinary field that combines elements of geography, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), remote sensing, and statistical analysis to support decision making and problem solving in various fields such as urban planning, environmental management, resource management, and land use management.

In this chapter Steve described the changes that occurred on the Maltese islands over a period of few years, and how he used satellite images and computer vision to assess such changes.
