McDonald’s hit by IT outage, customers unable to order

McDonald’s encountered an IT system outage affecting several of its restaurants, resulting in customers being unable to place orders. This issue surfaced on Friday morning in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, prompting complaints on social media. Some outlets resorted to cash transactions and manual order-taking due to the glitch.

While some customers managed to place orders via the McDonald’s app, they faced difficulties completing transactions at physical restaurants. The company assured that the problem was not due to a cyber attack but rather a system failure, apologizing to customers and assuring them of ongoing efforts to resolve the issue.

In Japan, McDonald’s acknowledged the problem on social media and advised patience for resolution. In the UK, despite app orders being accepted, some outlets reportedly remained closed.

The company emphasized that the issue didn’t stem from a cybersecurity breach. A McDonald’s Australia representative acknowledged the ongoing technology outage impacting stores.
