Microsoft works to restore Outlook services after widespread outage

Microsoft has confirmed that most Outlook services affected by a major outage on Saturday are now recovering. The tech giant faced disruption to several Microsoft 365 services, leaving thousands of users unable to access their accounts.

According to Downdetector, an online service status tracking website, the first reports of issues began surfacing at around 8.40 pm. By 9.15 pm, more than 9,000 users had reported problems, with London and Manchester among the most affected areas.

Microsoft quickly acknowledged the issue and provided updates via X (formerly Twitter). In a post, the company stated: “Our telemetry indicates that a majority of impacted services are recovering following our change. We’ll keep monitoring until impact has been resolved for all services.”

At around 10 pm, Microsoft announced it had identified a potential cause of the disruption. However, the company did not immediately disclose further technical details about the outage.

This incident follows a similar outage in November, which affected Microsoft’s email services and the Teams collaboration platform. While such disruptions can cause frustration for users, Microsoft has been working swiftly to restore normal operations.

The company continues to monitor the situation and ensure that all services return to full functionality. Users experiencing ongoing issues are advised to check Microsoft’s official service status page for real-time updates.
