Microsoft has announced plans to invest $1.3 billion in Mexico over the next three years. The goal is to expand cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. This will boost connectivity and AI adoption for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella revealed the initiative during an event in Mexico City. He stated that Microsoft is “doubling down” on Mexico. The company aims to reach 5 million people and 30,000 SMBs within three years.
Already, large Mexican companies like Bimbo and Cemex use Microsoft’s AI tools. Additionally, Microsoft and Viasat plan to provide internet access to over 150,000 Mexicans who currently lack connectivity by 2025.
Mexico’s incoming Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard welcomed the investment, saying it would enhance the country’s AI capabilities significantly.
