Apple set to reveal major software updates at WWDC 2025

Apple has officially announced the dates for its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will take place from 9 to 13 June. The company confirmed that it will unveil updates to all its platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS.

WWDC 2025 will mostly be held online, though over 1,000 developers and students are invited to Apple’s California-based Apple Park for in-person sessions. The event will begin with a keynote streamed live on 9 June at 10am Pacific Time (6pm in the UK). Viewers can watch it via Apple’s website, YouTube, or the Apple TV app.

Following the keynote, Apple will host various developer-focused sessions. These include its “Platforms State of the Union”, over 100 technical workshops, and live support labs with Apple engineers.

While the company has not yet revealed full details, it is widely expected to focus heavily on artificial intelligence. Last year’s launch of Apple Intelligence was marred by delays and controversy, especially around Siri’s promised improvements.

This year, Apple is likely to introduce new AI tools that could help extend battery life and enhance user experience. Rumours also suggest a major visual redesign of iOS and iPadOS, possibly aligning their appearance with the transparent design of VisionOS.

Siri’s role may be reduced, as Apple appears to be separating its voice assistant from its wider AI systems. As usual, new software will be available to developers first, with public betas in summer and full releases in autumn.
