Apple’s highly anticipated artificial intelligence (AI) features will be released in October, according to a Bloomberg report published Monday. This delay means the new AI capabilities will miss the initial launch of iPhone and iPad software updates.
The decision to postpone the rollout of Apple Intelligence features stems from concerns about their stability. Apple opted to conduct more extensive testing before making these features widely available, Bloomberg reported. This cautious approach aims to ensure a smooth user experience when the AI tools finally debut.
Initially, Apple had promised a beta version of its AI features for the fall. These features are designed to enhance the functionality of the company’s new iPhones, specifically the iPhone 15 Pro models and newer. Among the anticipated updates are integrations with ChatGPT and significant improvements to Siri, which will be released later this year.
Developers will gain early access to Apple Intelligence through the iOS 18.1 beta version, expected to be available as soon as this week. This move allows developers to start integrating and testing the new AI tools within their apps ahead of the public release.
Apple first introduced Apple Intelligence on June 10. The AI features are designed to be versatile, offering functionalities like proofreading and rewriting text in various tones, creating custom emojis, and summarizing and transcribing phone calls. These features will be compatible with all Macs and iPads equipped with the M1 chip or newer.
